Septic systems are designed to utilize biological process to breakdown waste material, so obviously antibacterial products are not helpful to the system process. A common leaky culprit in homes and cottages are aged, degraded toilet flappers.  Found in the tank of most toilets, this rubber part can degrade and crack over time allowing extra water to “leak” into your septic system.   A leaky flapper can add hundreds of litres of unnecessary water a week, causing hydraulic overloading and leading to possible system failure.
