Skip the Kitchen Sink Garbage Disposal (often called a Garburator) & Scrape the Plates! Excess organics are an absolute no-no for septic systems. Ground up vegetables and other organics are difficult for bacteria to breakdown.  This excess will overburden the system, cause frequent pump-outs, odours, blockages and system failure.  So scrape the plates (ideally into a compost bin) and save your septic.
